From HDC regarding weight restriction
It was confirmed that the Traffic Regulation Order (revoking the 7.5t weight restriction on Bittesby Way to ensure HGV traffic uses Bittesby Way to access the A5, rather than travelling along Mere Lane and on through local villages) came into force on 20th May 2024. The accompanying signage works were unfortunately delayed, but were finally fully completed on 11th November.
Now the restrictions are in and correctly signed we will now wait while the area settles down and HGV drivers get used to the new routing. We will then look to commission traffic surveys in the New Year; looking at traffic volumes, vehicle types and speeds through the villages.
